This is a great, encouraging guide — thank you for sharing it. I particularly appreciate the emphasis on using life experience as a starting point and keeping things simple (tip 1 and tip 2 really resonated). The advice to start with small, manageable jobs and build a sample folder before jumping into larger projects feels realistic and welcoming for writers of any age. It’s also smart to highlight workspace comfort and celebrating small wins, because staying consistent can sometimes be the hardest part. I’m curious: in your experience, which of these 10 tips tends to be the most important first step for someone completely new — starting with familiar topics, building a sample folder, or joining senior-friendly writing communities?
Thank you Hanna
If I was starting all over today, I would make joining a senior-friendly writing community my first step, if I had done this in the past I would have been so farther ahead in a much shorter time.
Jeff
Freelance writing is perfect for Seniors! They really have to learn the ropes if they are a stranger to it in general. It’s good to start right now no matter what your schedule is, even if it’s an hour before you go to bed. Just having more experience with life gives you a wealth of information to write about!
Thank you Derrick,
Freelance writing actually is good option for older adults. I write my articles for my website on the weekends, and then publish them for my readers during the week.
You can do this in very short time periods, so why not give this a try.
