I started writing small blog-style notes each day, and over time I saw improvement — and confidence. The more you write the better you will become, and there are free tools and apps online to help you.

I tend to always keep a tablet near my cozy chair, and this allows me to jot down future step-by-step guides for you. It never fells my best ideas comes when I am in bed before falling asleep, so I keep my tablet near my bed for this very reason.

I like this. This is solid. This is a practical plan for getting a writing group started. You are focusing on creating a supportive environment and this is a real success key. I have seen that the social connection itself can be as valuable as the writing practice for many people.
I was fortunate to lead, but not implement (there was a design and implementation team), writing retreats for people who never thought of writing, and we have witnessed great productions.
For the timed writing exercises, what is a good length of time to set for beginners—long enough to get thoughts flowing but not so long it becomes stressful? And when people share their work, what is a good guideline to offer the group for giving feedback that feels constructive but not intimidating?

Below I have createed a easy routine to get people started and they can adjust their routine from here
That’s a thoughtful question, especially considering the needs of seniors with arthritis and fatigue. Adjusting the time and feedback style will make the exercises much more accessible and enjoyable.
Here are some guidelines for timed writing and constructive feedback tailored for this group
Introduce the Prompt: 1 minute.Warm-up: 1 minute (writing or hand stretching).Timed Writing: 7 minutes.Put Pens Down: Stop immediately.Relax/Share: Transition to the feedback portion.
Your goal should be short focused bursts which will prevent fatigue, so in between do something like stretches or spend some time doing something that you enjoy
