    It feels like a light bulb just went on for me. I’ve been on the affiliate marketing hamster wheel a couple of times and always ended up getting frustrated and quitting. I see now that I skipped the most crucial step: actually figuring out who I was talking to!   12. You are quite correct in saying that when you write anything online, you do need to have a target audience. You need to appeal to a certain group of people that will be interested to hear what you have to say. You need to know who you are marketing to before you even start writing.

    I try to imagine the person that I am writing for. I write down all their likes, dislikes and where they would hang around on the net. This does help a lot when it comes to finding a target audience.
