Content Topics
Since I have been in your shoes in the past, I have a pretty good understanding of what your problems might be. Being a senior who had the same problems helps me as well. Knowing how to write for your readers allows me to connect more effectively.
How Do You Choose a Topic
Put yourself in their shoes as much as possible, since I have experience supplementing my own income. This is how to write for your readers effectively.
By joining online groups for seniors planning for retirement, I pay close attention to what questions they are asking. Why not ask your friends how to write for your readers?

Content Outline
Creating a short content outline works extremely well, you will stay on track with what you wish to cover by doing that. I prefer to use a four-line outline for myself, so I suggest that you try that.
- Who am I writing to help in my content, why I am writing this guide on how to write for your readers.
- What are my steps in my guide going to be.
- Examples that I might share from my own experience
- Solutions to their problem or problems
Boomer Biz HQ focuses on seniors, and my goals are always to provide you with solutions to your problems. Be sure to check my other guides if you are brand new.
Writing Tips
Never rush yourself when you are writing for your readers. You want to take your time and think about what your goal is in each step.
When I started out, I had zero confidence in my own writing skills.
How I overcome this was by using the free version of a spelling and grammar tool, one that I recommend you consider is Grammarly. This helps when learning how to write for your readers.
Editing
Reading your step-by-step guide aloud often helps new writers, so this is something you can try when editing your content. Short paragraphs are the best for easy reading, adding images is another option that I like to use myself.
Checklists are another option you can consider including in your guides on how to write for your readers. Surveys engage readers while on your website, so these are two extras you can include if you desire.
Where to Share Your Content
Time is precious, so where you share your content is extremely important. You want to be aware of where your readers hang out online.
Facebook Groups is one place that you can’t go wrong, remember to share your guides only. We never want to promote products or services directly on social media.
When I was new to this business, I got banned from most of the social media platforms. I had no idea that promoting products and services was SPAM. Telling you this will prevent you from being banned.
Sharing your article featured image is another good strategy on Pinterest. Again, only use the URL of your blog posts, never attempt to sell.
Creating a signup form in your content can get you signups. You will want to know email marketing is still the number one marketing strategy. This works much better than even social media. I am using MailLite email service, but there are many others to consider.
Using Medium for Traffic
Using writing platforms such as Medium.com is one of my best resources. What I do is write step-by-step guides related to Boomer Biz HQ content. Then I insert my URL to articles on my website. This is providing me steady traffic, another good resource is HubPages you might try while learning how to write for your readers.
Staying Consistent
Being consistent with your writing is extremely important. What I do is try to write one guide every day. You should aim for at least 3 articles per week. Making your content your priority is the key to success.
Patience is a must when starting out, so don’t expect immediate success. Many affiliates give up within the first year.

- Edit your content until you like what you read
- Some writers find using a voice recorder works for them.
- Experiment with formats such as podcasts, videos, and so on.
- Focus on what you accomplish each day
- Research regularly to learn from other content writers
- Don’t be afraid to share your own mistakes with your readers
Do you have the time to share your experience, and if you do please share in my comments section. Feedback from your readers is extremely valuable, ask questions or requests for future guides on how to write for your readers.
What is more proof than success stories? If anyone has any success stories, feel free to share them. I have one that I am going to share with you below.

“The Garden Notes”
Joan was a retired school secretary who loved small-space gardening. She started by writing a simple one-page guide, “5 Seeds That Do Well in Pots.” She emailed it to 10 friends and posted it in her town’s Facebook group.
- Month 1: sold 10 printed guides at $5 each at the local craft fair = $50.
- Month 3: posted a downloadable one-page guide for $7; 25 people bought it that month → 25 × $7 = $175.
- Month 12: repeated the idea with a short class at the library ($10 per person), averaging 40 people across several classes that year → 40 × $10 = $400, plus guide sales.
Quick math (how it added up):
- $175 in month 3.
- If Joan reached a steady $800/month later: $800 × 12 = $9,600 per year.
- (Breakdown: 800 × 10 = 8,000; 800 × 2 = 1,600; 8,000 + 1,600 = 9,600.)
Joan used the extra money for a yearly small trip to visit family, to buy gardening tools, and to cover occasional medical co-pays. More than money, she gained confidence, new friends from classes, and a reason to get up excited about her day on how to write for your readers.
If Joan could do this, why can’t you?
